Born in Colombia and raised in New York, I'm currently in the final year of my MA in Communication and Translation Technology at the University of Geneva. Like everything else, my language combinations are also in threes: English, French, and Spanish.

Projects

NB: all descriptions were adapted from the written course instructions.

Responsive Design

In this project, we were asked to create a responsive page using Bootstrap. We had to ensure that the page was visible in all screen sizes and deploy it onto Github. For my example, I created a baking blog homepage.

JavaScript

In this project, we added interactive functionalities to an SVG image using JavaScript. When you click on one of the skeleton's bones, a corresponding description will pop up.

APIs

In this project, we used Google Maps JavaScript API to create a map similar to the UNIGE Translation Faculty alumni map, which includes markers to show where each alumn is now living on the map. We were able to copy a lot of the code already provided by the Google Maps API, making it a lot easier to build and adapt.

Dynamic Website and Databases

In this project, we had to create a dynamic website using the Bottle web framework, the SQLite database and Bootstrap for the display. We were required to include: a homepage with a list of all the entries and their image, a detailed view of each entry on separate page, the ability to add an entry and a button to delete an entry. For my example, I chose to make my website a catalogue of different paintings by different artists. Users can choose from a drop-down list of artists, add an image of the painting, the painting name and image source. The artist's information is automatically populated when an artist is chosen.

No 'live' option as the code contains Python and Github pages does not support dynamic sites, so it cannot be deployed on there.
